Wychavon District Council’s Planning Department will soon be sending out a consultation regarding the Draft Supplementary Planning Document for Local Listed Buildings. The draft document will set out what local listing is, the nomination and adoption processes for the authority.
Local listing provides an avenue for communities to formally identify architecture, landmarks and street furniture considered to be significant to that community and why. The nomination process includes age, rarity, aesthetics, group value, archaeological, historic, social and communal, landscape and landmark. These considerations are to be weighed against criteria to confirm suitability prior to formal public consultation and adoption as a local listed asset.
Please be aware, as part of a planning application, the inclusion on the list will be a material consideration when determining the application with assessment focusing upon scale of harm or loss and significance of the asset.
Additionally, we would like to seek your views on the proposed document and wish to invite you to engage with our consultation. The draft Local Listed Building Supplementary Planning Document can be viewed via both and Wychavon District Council’s website via the following links:
It will also be available to view at all Councils’ contact centres and libraries from the start of the consultation period, notices will also be sent to each parish and town council, and adverts will be placed in newspapers across the authority areas.
